Claude Code vs. IDEs
People are debating Claude Code's effectiveness compared to IDEs like Cursor and emphasizing the importance of context management and agentic capabilities in AI coding tools for improved integration and understanding of codebases.
Lastly, we’ve shipped a new command: /stats /stats generates a visualization of your daily Claude Code usage and provides data on your sessions, usage streaks, and favorite models.
I’m not sure if Claude Code is better than Cursor right now… What I am convinced of: IDEs will soon become background infrastructure - tools that agents orchestrate behind conversational interfaces. My prediction: by 2027, IDE usage starts declining.
Tools like Claude Code and Cursor will give an advantage to teams with mature codebases, strong processes, and a high degree of automation. As a result, coding agents will only widen the gap between strong teams and weak ones.
